You can be rest assured that this processor will handle virtually any basic task you throw at it.

The machine is equipped with one gigabyte of DDR2 RAM and can be upgraded to two gigabytes if you so desire. If 250 GB isn't enough then you will be glad to know that you have the options of using 500GB of web storage which will be stored remotely and separately from your machine.

This little wonder from Asus comes with Windows 7 for the ultimate computing experience. Windows 7 is much more stable than its predecessor, Windows Vista and features full customer support from Microsoft in the event something goes wrong. The laptop itself is Blutooth Enabled, meaning you can take advantage of other various Bluetooth devices you might have in your possession.

Want to take your machine on the go for a day? There's no reason why you shouldn't considering the Asus Super Hybrid engine is capable of both saving battery life and boosting performance, meaning you can use your laptop for up to fourteen hours without needing an external power source. First and foremost, the battery life on this little netbook is amazing. With an external hard drive attached, processor boosted to the max, and the screen brightness at max, it's giving me 6 hours. Selecting power saving mode and turning the brightness down will easily get 11, 12 hours if not more. This is perfect for traveling. I used to have an s101, but the battery life on that was no good for the long haul traveling that i do. The 1005PE runs anything and everything i need it to just fine, with the 1gb of RAM and the Atom processor. There is no need to upgrade the RAM, as I am able to multitask just fine as is.

The computer itself is quite attractive, which is also a nice thing. Having sold my s101 to purchase this standard netbook, i was expecting something noticeably less attractive. However, aside from the fingerprints that this thing attracts, it's a sexy machine. I couldn't recommend this computer any more that i do.

Here’s the review of Acer Aspire One netbook. This is a N450 netbook based on Atom processor and has 10.1 inch LED-LCD, 1024 by 600 resolution, 1 gig of RAM, 160 gig hard drive, multi-card reader, 802.11n but does not have Bluetooth, which is kind of a bummer. It does have a webcam and a six-cell lithium ion battery. Having used this for a few weeks, I have several gripes with it. I still prefer Toshiba NB305.

Let’s do a quick overview and comparison. Software-wise, Acer Aspire One is pretty much standard, not anything particularly new. In comparison to Samsung N150 that had an extraordinary number of bloatwares installed on it, Aspire One does not have that much bloatware. When I first start up this netbook, it took about 6.5 minutes to set up whereas the N150 took over 20 minutes. So I give props to Acer Aspire One for fast startup, which is a snap. The gripes I do have with it are, first off, the keyboard. I have an affinity towards chicklit keyboard, however, this is not a chicklit keyboard. Although it is difficult to describe it exactly, when you are typing, it feels like your fingers are rocking. I don’t the fact that the mouse key is just one large bar. I’d much prefer to have two separate keys. I do like the touchpad with this texture on it, making it easier to tell where it begins and ends. As for webcam, it says the webcam is optimized for low light video chatting. I tested this out and did not see much improvement over other models even in low light settings.

The Acer Aspire One feels light, well-built and doesn’t have the battery protruding that much as with some other models. Port-wise, you’ve got an Ethernet jack, cable lock, 3 USB ports, microphone and headphone jacks, card reader and VGA adapter. Nothing much else to report on this netbook. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a snappy netbook. If you’re not a big fan of chicklit keyboard, this is the netbook for you because this keyboard definitely not chicklit. Again, it doesn’t have much bloatware you have to deal with, which is good. This is my impression of Acer Aspire One netbook.

Let’s take a look at ASUS Eee PC 1005HA. We looked at ASUS Eee PC 1008HA a while ago. 1005HA is a little cheaper but has same spec with longer battery life. 1005HA has very similar build to 1008HA but is not as slim. It has nice glossy black lid, very prone to fingerprints. So you want to keep that cloth handy. Let’s take you around the ports. One thing about Eee PC 1008HA is their seashell design, which is their previous version. It was very thin and you didn’t have a full VGA port. In 1005HA, on the other hand, you’ve got a full VGA port, not a mini one and not an adapter on the bottom. Some people prefer that outward VGA for easy access. You’ve got one USB on the left hand side. On the front, you’ve got no ports. On the right hand side, you have a three-in-one card reader, microphone and headphone jacks, two additional USBs, which bring the total number of USB ports to three, and an Ethernet port. In the back, there is a six-cell battery, which is quite flush with the system.

You’ve got the 10 inch LED display, which is typical for most ASUS netbooks on the market now. Just a quick note about the keyboard, you have the pretty much same keyboard layout as the Eee PC 1008HA. One notable difference is the full-size shift key. The keys are a little flat but that’s not a deal breaker. Nice keyboard feel and decent typing time. Down to the trackpad, it is identical to the previous version of 1008HA. You’ve got the trackpad that is absolutely flush with the deck and the only thing that will differentiate it is these small dots. You have a single mouse bar, where a right- and left- button bar would be preferred. The response, however, is quite good with little sound when clicking it.

As for the insides of ASUS Eee PC 1005HA, ASUS keeps the same spec they have used in the previous generations of netbooks. You have an Intel Atom processor, N280 with 1.66 GHz top speed, 1 gig of RAM, 160 gigabyte hard drive, which boots into windows XP. Pretty standard performance. One thing we like is the software bar ASUS added on the top of the window, that brings you some of their proprietary software. What makes ASUS Eee PC 1005HA stand out from the rest of the netbooks on the market is the battery life. This is the longest running netbook we’ve had and it is a little shy of 9-hour battery life, a really nice package in terms of battery life. The bettery also doesn’t protrude much from the system.

Consumers that haven't decided what laptop to get because of budget constraints are really lucky now because all of the leading laptop manufacturers are competing in the netbook industry where companies are striving to make their netbooks that are most affordable and at the same time serve the needs of their target audience without any major inconveniences. Although netbooks are far more affordable than their bigger laptop cousins, several things still need to be taken into account when getting your next netbook because replacing a netbook with another one just because it fails to meet your requirements is a waste of time and money. If you just look at the netbook in four different angles, you should zero down to a notebook that perfectly fits your needs and budget.

Netbook Size & Screen Size

There are plenty of netbooks as small as 5-7 inches and there are ones that exceed 10” inches, but come out a bit bigger than the others. The size of the screen will be the first thing that you notice whether you are browsing online or checking out your local computer shop. If netbook can be used on the spot for demo purposes, take advantage of it by launching the applications you'll use most often and see if the screen is big enough for whatever things you need to do. If you think that the screen is large enough, try to lift the netbook and see if you are satisfied with the size and portability of the unit. Your choice of size should depend on your needs and should filter out a lot of the other netbooks available.

Usability

Don't forget to check out the keyboard and track pad size if you don't plan on plugging in a mouse and external keyboard. Even If you have these accessories, you should still give the netbook a hands-on as you might carry your future netbook around with you without accessories and you might run into a situation where you need to do something quick. There is no perfect size so the real way to tell is for you to try it yourself before buying.

Processing Power & Specs

Now that you have a few candidates for a perfect physical Netbook, get into the internal components and see if the processing power and specs meet or exceed the requirements of your most frequently used applications. Clock speeds above 1.5 GHz should be able to handle basic jobs, but for more intense usage, you may want to opt for higher numbers. High RAM is also needed for more multitasking to be possible. Also take the disk space into the equation so you can plan whether or not the applications or games that you will install will fit.

Extra Features

Some netbook features have neat extras including optical drives and memory card slots built-in while others may have advanced power-saving features. The best way to find all of these features is to do some online research on one of your picks based on the angles above.
